A 45 minute drive away is El Chorro, a spectacular dammed gorge with sheer cliffs up to 400 metres high. Perfect for either a relaxing day trip with its tranquil lakes for swimming, canoeing,  restaurants and bars or a more active day walking, climbing or mountain biking.
Ronda is again 45 minutes away. The town is a fusion of  modern and historic architecture. It is perched on top of a rocky platform split by the picturesque El Tajo gorge, which is spanned by an eighteenth century arched bridge and an ancient moorish bridge. Recommended sites are the Bullring which is the oldest in Spain and also houses a bullfighting museum. The Mondragon Palace, houses a museum of local archeology of moorish Ronda. Centred around three courtyards, one in the renaissance style, the second in the late gothic style, and the third in a Muslim style, it is a quiet oasis in the centre of the bustling town. There are also plenty of stylish shoe and clothes shops and good quality restaurants.
Approximately an hours drive away is Antequera. An attractive market town dominated by a hill on which Alcazaba, a ruined medieval fortress stands. The Alcazaba now encloses a municipal garden which affords stunning views of the town. On the northern outskirts of the town there are 3 impressive dolmens, burial chambers dating from 2500 BC constructed from massive stone slabs. The El Torcal national park lies 13 km south of Antequera and is well worth a visit; weathered limestone formations resembling a moonscape and several well marked walks.
Two and a half hours away is Seville, Anadulcias’ capital containing the regions most important monuments. A visit to the gothic cathedral is a must and its tower, a former minaret from a moorish mosque which previously occupied this site, provides panoramic views of the city.  Next to it is Alcazar a fortified palace offering some of the best surviving examples of moorish architecture. The street cafes, abundant orange trees, beautiful architecture, horse drawn carriage rides and maze of streets makes for an unforgettable visit.
Malaga in itself merits a visit, it was the birthplace of Picasso and is now home to the popular Picasso museum. It has a magnificent Alcazaba and Gibralfaro castle. There are a wealth of shops including many designer outlets and chic cafes. In mid August one of the most renowned fiestas in Andalucia is held here.

Camino del Rey
A concrete catwalk, the Camino del Rey 3 km in length hangs precariously from the walls of the gorge, although it is no longer possible to walk the full length without a guide as it has fallen into a dangerous state of disrepair.
For the intrepid, a guided walk along the catwalk, braving missing hand rails and holes in floor, with absails at either end to access the camino will provide an unforgettable walk through stunning scenery.
