The impressive cliff at Puerto del Viento lies a few hundred meters north of the main road between Ronda and El Burgo. Few people climb here as it is a little out of the main climbing area, which means that you will probably have the place to yourselves and there is no chance of polished holds.
The crag faces south and so get’s the sun for most of the day however the altitude of 1200m means that it may be a little cooler than at El Chorro and there is usually a breeze. There are plenty of trees around the base of the cliff  if you feel like a bit of shade.

There is a good spread of routes across the grades from 3 to 8b, both single and multi pitch, with a couple of aid routes thrown in for good measure. Most routes are fully bolted although some will require a rack. Helpfully the bolt hangers are colour coded which makes route identification much easier. Some routes have the names painted at the bottom and some are even legible.

Parking is in the obvious flat area near the head of the pass. The hillside is criss crossed with numerous goat tracks but it is best to approach the rock almost straight up the hill. Do not be tempted to head diagonally left as the hill here is carpeted with small holly bushes as well as various other leg shredding plants.

As a starting point, to help identify the sectors, look at the crag directly in front of you from the parking place and you will see a thin patch of trees about half way up the rock face. At the base of the crag, slightly to the left, is a large tree. Behind this tree is sector espolon falo.
